The Substance Abuse Awareness Poster Contest
Now in its twelfth year the poster contest is becoming more established each year. In the fraternal year of 2006-2007 we had 46 districts in Ontario participate in the program. The teachers in the schools enjoy running the poster contest in conjunction with the other substance abuse awareness programs that they are asked to run because it gets the community involved with the schools. The program dovetails nicely with other anti drug and alcohol programs schools may be involved with.
The poster contest is for all children aged 8 to 14 years old. The contest is run on five different levels; the council level, the district level, the diocesan level, the state level and finally at an international level. There are two age divisions, ages 8 to 11 and ages 12 to 14, and there are two competition categories, Alcohol Abuse and Awareness, and Drug Abuse and Awareness. Kits can be ordered form the Order’s web site www.kofc.org or by using the coupon in the Council Report Forms Booklet (#1436).
