 The Tootsie Roll® Fund Raising Event was initiated 2005 by Ontario State Council as an endeavour in support of Special Olympics Ontario and Catholic Missions in Canada. This programme has been very successful for years all over the United States and in particular with our own Council # 4386 Holy Family in Windsor in support of those with developmental handicaps.
With the establishment of this program as a state wide initiative, it is hoped that the Council s of Ontario can provide the needed assistance to the two chosen recipients and this event would qualify as a Community, Youth and Church programme for the Columbian Service Award.
The project involves Council members going out into the community, offering Tootsie Rolls® to the public in exchange for a donation. (See Programme Guidelines) The concept is similar to a tag day.
Councils are asked to;
- Notify State Office that they wish to conduct an event by filling out and sending the “ Intent to Participate Form” to the State Office . They will also indicate on the form if they wish to purchase smocks for the event. These will be sent and invoiced from State Office
- The State Office will then send out an official Order Form which the council is complete and send directly to Tootsie Roll® Canada , with the other copies to the noted recipients.
- Upon receipt of the product, the council will conduct the drive and report their success with the Report Forms. Funds raised will be shared between the Council (30%) for their own charitable endeavours and Ontario State (70%) which will then donate these funds in equal portions to Special Olympics Ontario and the Catholic Missions in Canada .
This program should be incorporated with your regular Council Surge with Service activities for the upcoming fraternal year. The potential for this program is great; the more Council s participating, the more funds that can be raised and we can continue our history of service to the Church and the Community.

La campagne de financement “Tootsie Roll®” a été lancée en 2005 par le conseil d’État de l’Ontario pour appuyer les Jeux olympiques spéciaux et la Société des Missions catholiques du Canada. Depuis un bon nombre d’années, ce programme connaît un franc succès aux États Unis, et aussi dans notre conseil Holy Family #4386, de Windsor, où il sert à financer des œuvres de bienfaisance au profit de personnes ayant une déficience mentale.
Il est souhaité que ce programme d’envergure provinciale procure une aide grandement nécessaire à ces deux œuvres de bienfaisance. Ce programme est admissible pour mériter les récompenses du programme de service des activités communautaires, des activités pour les jeunes et des activités religieuses.
Ce programme demande que les membres offrent, dans la communauté, des “Tootsie Rolls®” en échange d’un don en argent. (Voir les lignes directrices du programme.) Il est basé sur l’idée d’un jour de collecte publique.
Les conseils doivent :
- À l’aide du formulaire prévu à cet effet, aviser le bureau du conseil d’État qu’ils ont l’intention de lancer ce programme dans leur communauté. Ils devront aussi indiquer sur le formulaire s’ils ont l’intention d’acheter des blouses pour cette activité. Ces dernières leur seront expédiées et facturées par le bureau d’État.
- Le bureau du conseil d’État fera alors parvenir un formulaire de commande au conseil qui le remplira et l’enverra directement à “Tootsie Roll®” Canada, et des copies aux destinataires indiqués.
- Sur réception du produit, les conseils mettront leurs campagnes en marche et feront rapport de leurs succès à l’aide du formulaire désigné à cet effet. Les fonds ainsi acquis seront partagés comme suit : 30 % pour les œuvres du conseil en Ontario, et l’autre 70 % sera partagé par le bureau d’État entre les Jeux olympiques spéciaux et la Société des Missions catholiques du Canada.
Ce programme devrait être intégré à votre programme “S’élever… en servant”. Ce programme offre un énorme potentiel; plus il y a de conseils participants, plus il y a d’argent à donner pour perpétuer nos antécédents de service à l’Église et à la communauté.
