On January 26, 2009 an Exemplification of the 4th Degree was held at the John Paul II Polish Cultural Center in Mississauga. At this special Exemplification nine Priests, four Deacons and three lay members received the Honours of the Fourth Degree.

Presentation of a Wheelchair from the Wheelchair Foundation to the Sisters of Visitation at their convent in Ottawa on Monday March 2/09.
Accepting on behalf of the Sisters was Mother General Sister Susan Proulx and her assistant. The sister’s were quoted as saying they were very appreciative of this program.

In recognition of a special milestone, Council 7873 recently presented to Sir Knight Claude Dupré PGK, a special certificate to commemorate his 50 years of continues service in the Knights of Columbus. In attendance the District Deputy for District 66 Sir Knight Ted McEvoy presented the certificate of service. To mark this special occasion, Council 7873 also made the arrangement to donate a wheel chair in Brother Claude’s name to the Madonna Nursing Home which provides living retirement residences and Long-Term Care services for the residence of Orleans Ontario. Council 7873 would like to acknowledge the support from Ontario State Council for assisting in obtaining the wheel chair. Please join Council 7873 in congratulating Sir Knight Claude Dupré for 50 years of services in our order.

Friday 27th. February we had an Addmissions meeting for three Candidates wishing to become Knights of Columbus in our Council. All three gentlemen were unanimously approved by the Addmissions committee and approved unanimously by the General Council Tuesday March 3rd. they will be attending the First Degree Exemplification at the Barrie Council #1626 on April 14th.

Basketball free throw January 31st. approximately 60 kids paticipated from the schools in the area. Seven brother Knights hosted the competition at St. Mary's elementry school in Collingwood.
February 7th. all winners except one attended the District free throw at St. Joseph's High School in Barrie with two going on to the Regional Finals in Bradford.

Nothing happens with help. Thank you to the Knights from all over Ottawa and area who helped make the Ottawa Regional Free Throw at St Mathews High School in Orleans, Ontario a success. The only thing we like to change next year is warmer weather. There was lots of help and here are some of the many who worked so hard.

IT was cold outside but hot inside, while 123 children took part in the Ottawa Regional Free throw... many thanks to Coordinators Ron Viau, Bill Country, Mike McCarthy and District Deputies for all the help and host council 7873 for its hospitality.

Holy Cross Council Number 5333

On February 8th, 2009, Holy Cross Council 5333, Kemptville, Ontario held its annual Sweetheart Brunch. The Brunch raises funds for local charities and highlights the good work of the Knights within our community. During this year’s event 1,011 guests were served an all you can eat meal to rave reviews.
Cheque presentations to five local charities and the St Michael Catholic High School wrestling team, for the purchase of new mats, were made.
This one day event, which goes each year, is the largest event held in Kemptville on an annual basis.

On Tuesday February 24th Council 9352 held it's annual Pancake Supper. Although attendance was down a litte profit was up. It is always a good start to the Lenten Season.
Menu was pancakes, french toast,sausages, fruit cocktail,tea, coffee and juice.As always donation were greatly appreciated.
