The purpose of the Free Throw Championship Competition is to promote the Ontario State Knights of Columbus in each community throughout the Ontario jurisdiction. Through this venue we encourage our youth to actively participate in a competitive nature encompassing all denominations in the spirit of friendship and sportsmanship. Through this competition the youth of today gain skills, self-esteem and a larger sense of community made possible by the Knights of Columbus.

Through these activities the Knights of Columbus receive community exposure in positive light supporting extra-curricular activities with the youth of the area. Along with exposure comes the opportunity to recruit new members for the Squires and potential new membership amongst the fathers of the participants. These activities fulfill some of the duties of the Knights of Columbus: charity and unity within the community and within the districts.
